Michael Beach

Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, I grew up surrounded by music. Inspired by my grandfather, Joe Beach, I learned violin at an early age and quickly fostered a lifelong passion for music. I was particularly drawn to string instruments, and so I also learned to play viola, cello, and guitar, as well as keyboard. I studied music composition at the University of Michigan. During my time there, my passion for the great people around me and for the ideas coming out of that environment led me to work on several films, on both the music and the production sides. After graduating in 2007 with my Bachelor of Music, I continued my education in the University of Southern California Thornton School's prestigious Film Scoring Program, where I learned the technical side of film scoring and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with a number of very talented directors, producers, and musicians.

After receiving my Graduate Certificate from USC, I began working with Bear McCreary at Sparks and Shadows, where I worked as a scoring assistant for seven years, and where I learned absolutely everything else about the music business. I have been privileged to work on so many amazing projects, including popular series such as Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, The Walking Dead, and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as many more films, television shows, video games, and web series. I have since embarked on my career as an independent composer, lending my unique musical ear to a number of different projects.

My experience providing musical scores in such a variety of genres and styles has prepared me to give any scene exactly what it needs, or to give it something completely new and unexpected that can transform the scene into a unique expression of the film's vision.
